Introducing next year’s scale champion – in kit form.
I’m starting on my next scale project that i hope to have finished in time for next year. This is a Yellow P-47 kit, bubble canopy version. I have a complete kit from Yellow, including their retracts, static prop, bombs, etc. It specs out to be 80″ wingspan, in the 26-30 pound range and most power it with either a Zenoah G-38 or G-62. Most say that the G-38 is ok, but the G-62 is too much. I have a Brillelli 46 that should be just about right, although I may have to add a bit of nose weight.
I plan to have operational retracts, flaps, navigation lights, 2 droppable bombs, a detailed cockpit with an opening canopy, and rivets/panel lines everywhere.
After flying Cubs and other lighter planes, I want to have something that will simply stop the competition, as well as laugh in the face of wind.
Brave words now. We’ll see how it all works out in the end.
